Antemortem: Before death.

Autopsy: An autopsy is a postmortem assessment or examination of a body to determine the cause of death. An autopsy is performed by a physician trained in pathology.

Botany: The scientific study of plants.

Ballistics: Of relating to the study of the dynamics of projectiles and of the internal actions of firearms.

Cranial Vault:Combination of skull bones that encase the brain.

Electrophoresis : A method of separating molecules by their size through the application of an electric field, causing molecules to migrate at a rate and distance dependent on their size. It not only separates DNA but also allows for the fragments to be measured, often expressed in base pairs. Measuring the length of these fragments can ultimately allow the number of repeats to be determined and thus the genotype at that locus.

Eversion: The position of being turned outward

Postmortem: An examination of a dead body to determine the cause of death

Single nucleotide polymorphisms : The simplest and most common type of genetic variation, composing around 90% of genetic variation in humans. They occur during meiosis when DNA is replicated, with each single nucleotide polymorphism representing a difference in a single nucleotide. For example, a single nucleotide polymorphism may replace cytosine with a thymine in a stretch of DNA, and this will not change the length of the DNA.
